How to start the fight against Jiren
You will be able to fight Jiren at the end of the Tournament of Power in the survival span of the universe. The road to this fight is challenging as you will have to face many tough opponents during the tournament.
Luckily, you will play as Goku Ultra Instinctwhich makes combat a lot more fun. Despite this, Jiren still represents a threat not to be taken lightly. There are not many alternative routes you can take here and it is advisable to do so stick to the main path of the story for the best ending and to unlock Jiren's character episode.
How to defeat Jiren
Jiren is a powerful force, but so are you in Ultra Instinct form. The battle begins with you in the Incomplete Ultra Instinct Goku's form, and you'll notice that Jiren is also holding back his true strength.
As the battle progresses, Goku will master the Ultra Autonomous Instinctmaking you even more of a challenge to the Jiren base. The battle strategy is pretty simple as you have to create distance and charge your Ki to switch to Sparking mode. Once you are in Sparking Mode, you need to get close to Jiren and initiate a melee combo.
You'll want to shorten your combos by pressing the Ki Blast button in the middle of a Combo Rush as Jiren can sometimes break free from the combo, making it difficult for you to get close to him again and deal significant damage before Sparking Mode ends.
AS Jiren is thrown away, you can launch your Ultimate Blast and then start charging your Ki again. Keep repeating this process until you have depleted your opponent's entire health bar. After that, Jiren will unlock its true potential and start fighting you seriously.
The overall strategy remains the same. However, sometimes Jiren may not give you the ability to initiate a Rush Combo. In that scenario, you have to do it use Super Perception or High Speed Evasion to counter his attack and throw it away.
If you are unable to charge your Ki and switch to Sparking Mode, use Super Perception to throw it away and then charge up your Kior immediately use your Ultimate Blast to deal significant damage to him if you are already in Sparking mode.
If Jiren isn't giving you time to charge up your Ki, you should try looking for a small opening and using Goku's No Backing Down ability, which will consume three skill points, but immediately shift you into Sparking Mode, while also giving you many upgrades, such as damage and defense boost.
Make sure you are a significant distance away from Jiren while he is in Sparking Mode. His Ultimate Blast cannot be blocked and covers a large AOEso it's best to get as far away from him as possible and wait for his Sparking mode to end.
If you can do it Defeat Jiren quickly, you will unlock an alternate ending where Goku single-handedly wins the Tournament of Power and you may not get the yummy rewards hidden behind the main ending.
How to unlock the Dragon Ball Super ending by defeating Jiren
To unlock the main ending, you will have to do this prolong the battle with Jiren until all dialogue is finished. You'll notice that at the end of the dialogue Vegeta will say that now is the time for Goku to take down Jiren.
Defeating Jiren, before the rest of the cast has finished speaking, will lead to the alternate ending.
Once all the dialogues are finished, you can defeat Jiren, leading you into another battle against himbut this time Goku is in his base form. Frieza and Android 17 will also be playable in this battle.
