How to cure curse status in Divinity: Original Sin 2

Quick links

The curse is a very problematic status effect to deal with Divinity: original sin 2. The resulting negative debuff is extremely difficult to deal with because it significantly reduces the character's stats without directly killing them.

When affected by a curse, the character will suffer a reduction in accuracy, dodge ability and elemental resistances, making him extremely vulnerable in combat. On higher difficulty settings, especially Tactical, this is a death sentence. Fortunately, there are some ways to treat it.

How to cure curse status in Divinity: Original Sin 2

Cursed State in the Divinity original sin 2

There are three main ways to cure Cursed in DOS2:

  1. Blessing (Source Spell).
  2. Resurrection Scrolls.
  3. Reloading a previous save.

Cast Bless

learn the skill of blessing the source in the divinity original sin 2

Bless is a ridiculously useful spell in Divinity: original sin 2and one of his main abilities is to cure any character from the Cursed status effect. Blessing is an origin skill and requires source points to cast. Until you have removed your Source Collar, there is no way to use it. Luckily, Cursed isn't fatal, so waiting for a cure shouldn't be a big deal.

Blessing cannot be learned from a Skill Book; you need to visit the Hall of Echoes in Fort Joy and talk to your race's patron to get it. The fastest way to do this is to interact with the file Statue of the Seven in the Empty Marshes (X: 517, Y: 173)just east of the Flaming Pigs. Be prepared for an ambush; there are Voidwoken lurking.

Sick, Decayed Touch, Petrified, and Stunned can also be healed by using Bless on the affected character.

Here's how players can respect their characters to try out different builds in Divinity: Original Sin 2.

Use a resurrection scroll

resurrect allies in Divinity Original Sin 2 to remove their cursed status

If you don't have the Source Points needed to cast Bless or haven't removed the Source Collar yet, you won't be able to rely on the first method. The easiest way to remove a curse from a character (without Bless) is to kill them and then revive them using a Scroll of Resurrection. This removes almost all active effects on the user, including curses.

Resurrection Scrolls can be purchased from most vendors. While they tend to cost a good amount of gold, they can easily be pickpocketed without any problems. Late in the game, money becomes less of an issue and you can reliably replenish your supplies whenever you need them without having to resort to underhanded tactics.

Alternatively, players can create resurrection scrolls using the following recipe:

  • Sheet of Paper + Essence of Water + Essence of Life

In DOS2's Story Mode, all characters get a free ability to resurrect allies out of combat without using a resurrection scroll.

If one of your party members is a Necromancer, he can use the combination of Living on the Edge (level 9 spell) AND Last Rites (level 16 spell) to directly resurrect a character out of combat, achieving the same effect. However, since this method is available very late in the game, the Scroll of Resurrection method is the most applicable option.

Reload a previous save

It may seem obvious, but if you reload a save from a point before your character becomes cursed, you won't need to spend resources to heal him. If the curse is the result of a trap, you can also use summoned creatures to activate them on a cooldown so you don't get directly cursed the second time.

How to cure curses from cursed objects

Some articles in Divinity: original sin 2 will curse the character who equips them. The methods mentioned above also work for these Curses, but with one key caveat. Casting Bless on a character wearing a cursed item will heal them. But if they die and they are then resurrected using a Resurrection Scroll, the Curse will be reapplied immediately, and you will have to cast Bless again to heal it a second time. However, if you unequip the cursed item and then reborn, the curse does not reapply.
