Changing your deck's sleeves, playmats, and coins adds another layer of customization to the already immersive Pokemon TCG Pocket experience.
What is energy in Pokemon Pocket?
In Pokémon TCG Pocket, Energy is the mana or point of action. To attack, use a Pokemon's Ability, or retreat to the Bench, you must attach the required amount of Energy to its card. Energies come in different types, and each card has specific energy requirements for its actions. As a rule, stronger attacks require more Energy points.
Energy zone
Unlike the physical one Pokemon TCG, Pokémon TCG Pocket does not use Energy cards. Instead, it features a new mechanic called “Energy Zone”, which generates action points for players. At the start of each round, the Energy Zone produces one Energy. If your deck has multiple energy types, the energy generated will be determined by the RNG. In short, you can't choose which Energy Type you get unless your deck is assigned to only one Energy Type.
Type of energy
There are eight types of energy Pokemon Pocket: Grass, Fire, Water, Psychic, Darkness, Lightning, Fighting and Metal. Additionally, there is a special category of Pokemon known as “colorless.” These cards can work with any type of energy mentioned above.
How can you change a deck's energy type?
1. Go to the “Battle” menu.
2. Tap “Decks” in the bottom left corner.
3. Select “My Decks”.
4. Choose the desired deck (if you don't have one, you should build a deck first).
5. Tap “Change” in the top right corner.
6. Select “Energy”.
7. Customize or modify your deck's Energy.
You can assign up to three different energy types to each deck. These Energy are exclusive to the deck and only affect that specific formation. If you assign more than one type of energy, the energy you receive at the start of each round will be random. For META decks in Pokemon Pocket, It is recommended to stick to one type of energy to ensure consistency.
The best way to balance your Energy distribution is to include some colorless Basic Pokemon in your deck. These Pokemon offer alternative evolution paths or defensive playstyles without requiring the addition of different energy types.
In Pokemon Pocket Genetic Apex expansion, the only way to get more than one Energy Point per turn is to play Misty. This Supporter card provides a Water Energy every time you flip a coin and get heads. Misty will continue to give you water energy until you flip a coin and land on tails.
Future expansions are likely to introduce more Supporter cards with abilities similar to Misty's for other energy types. However, until then, Misty is the only way to get extra energy in a round.
Misty is a great Supporter card if your deck isn't Water oriented but includes more colorless Pokemon. Its Water-type energies can be used on these colorless cards.
Are there special energies in Pokemon Pocket?
The current expansion of Pokemon Pocket does not include any Special Energy cards. In the physical Pokemon TCGthese cards offer additional abilities, such as double points or free retreats. However, with PocketSpecial Energy cards are unlikely to be introduced into the game.
