Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is finally here and a lucky few of you (probably more than a few, actually) have likely been playing the game for a few hours by now. The sequel builds on the first two games in Insomniac’s Spider-Man series, adding some famous characters from the Spider-Verse into the mix. Most notably Venom, and if you missed out on the 19 inches of him PlayStation was handing out with the collectors’ edition, perhaps the newly-revealed collectible action figure from Hot Toys will interest you.
Hot Toys shared the first official images of the figure on Instagram this week and it’s quite something. Standing at 53cm tall (that’s a full inch and a half taller than 19 inches for anyone keeping count), the figure is a sixth scale and comes with interchangeable parts so you can change Venom’s look. Two heads, one with Venom’s mouth open and the other showing a toothy grin, and even different tongues you can switch between.
The Venom figure is available for pre-order now and costs $455. Yes, that’s a lot of money, but in defense of Hot Toys, you’re getting a lot of Venom. The images on the figure’s store page show it stood next to Peter Parker and Miles Morales figures and the symbiote towers over them. No indicator as to how long the figure will be available, but there doesn’t appear to be a limited number available which is good news if accurate.
Venom 1/6th Scale Collectible Figure
Hot Toys’ 1/6th scale Venom collectible action figure is modeled after the version of the character from Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on PS5. The figure is 53cm tall and comes with interchangeable heads and tongues.
A highly-anticipated PS5 game and a big old Venom statue aren’t the only ways you can celebrate your Spider-Man fandom right now. No Way Home is finally on Netflix, and a set of Marvel Legends action figures based on characters from the movie were revealed last month during Hasbro’s Pulse-Con. All three webslingers are included in the collection, as are Alrfred Molina as Doc Ock, Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin, and Zendaya as MJ.
Now that Spider-Man 2 is out in the world, the finer details about the game and what can be found within it will start to pour in. We already know the boat people from the first game have unfortunately been updated. Insomniac never imagined players would take the time to get out to the game’s boats since Spider-Man can’t really swim and there’s nothing to swing from out there. The studio hasn’t made that mistake again and the boat people look much less nightmarish in the sequel.
