Gordon Ramsay revealed his horribly bruised torso after a terrifying accident – and credits a bicycle helmet with saving his life.

The 57-year-old chef took to his Instagram today in a white chef’s outfit to share the shocking news with his followers.

In the caption, Gordon wrote: “In honor of tomorrow’s #FathersDay, I have a very important message for all dads… WEAR A HELMET!

“I had a really bad accident this week riding my bike in Connecticut.

“I feel fine, I haven’t broken any bones or had any major injuries, but I’m a little bruised and look like a purple potato.”

In the video, he lifted the chef’s top, exposing his entire side in a black and purple bruise.

He added: “I am grateful to all the doctors, nurses and staff at Lawerence + Memorial Hospital in New London who cared for me and examined me, but most of all I am grateful for the helmet that saved my life. Have a great Father’s Day and stay safe, Gx.”

In the video, he stressed the importance of wearing a helmet and admitted that the accident “really shook me up,” adding: “Honestly, I’m lucky to be here.”

As he continued to recount what had happened, his hands trembled with anxiety and he confessed that he “felt pain.”

Gordon was immediately flooded with support from fans, with one writing: “Oh my god that bruise!!!!!! Oh my God, I’m glad you’re okay. You are a soldier.

Another added: “Oh my god I’m so sorry! I’m glad you’re okay and thank you for spreading awareness about the importance of helmets.”

A third commented: “Oh you must have been so shocked, that bruise is healing incredibly fast and as always thank you for sharing your priceless message. I’m glad you’re okay.

Gordon knows how important Father’s Day is because he and his wife, Tana, have six children.

The couple welcomed their first child, Megan, in 1998, and went on to have twins Holly and Jack, and then a daughter, Tilly.

They became parents again to son Oscar in 2019, before surprising fans by revealing that they welcomed their sixth child, son Jesse, in 2023.
