Forza Horizon 5 takes things back to the '90s

Playground Games has announced the arrival of the Back to the '90s update Forza Horizon 5 this month. The upcoming addition of nostalgic content brings with it four new '90s prize cars, themed events and races, a host of bug fixes and improvements, a returning fan-favorite feature, and much more. Forza Horizon 5.

Widely regarded as one of the best open-world racing games of recent years, Forza Horizon 5 has received considerable support from developer Playground Games since its launch in November 2021. New cars, game modes, features, playlists and more are added regularly Forza Horizon 5 via monthly content updates that are often season-focused. However, the next update Back to the 90s for Forza Horizon 5 it abandons the spooky October theme and instead targets gamers wistful for a long-gone era.


Returning to the 90s will rewind the clock Forza Horizon 5 of departure October 10th with four new 90's era prize cars, namely Aston Martin Lagonda, Subaru SVX, Toyota Soarer 2.5 GT-T and Mitsubishi FTO GP Version R. A new 90's themed Festival playlist will be available with special races, challenges and events offer, and players can search for a new VHS collectible, unlock the '90s cosmetic outfit, and earn up to three new badges. The recently added Hide and Seek game mode in Forza Horizon 5 they will also get five new custom-made achievements.


Most notably, though, the Back to the '90s update will finally bring Horizon Backstage Forza Horizon 5. This functionality returns from before Go Horizon is very popular among car collectors, as it offers players the opportunity to claim prize cars that were stuck in previous festival playlists on a weekly basis. Six cars will initially be available via Horizon Backstage, beyond which the community will vote on one of two pairs of cars to feature each week. Players are thrilled with the inclusion of Horizon Backstage, as it is among the fastest Forza Horizon 5 the cars are exclusive to older festival playlists.

Until Forza Horizon 5 updates go, Back to the 90s is fairly modest in terms of content. Many players will no doubt enjoy the themed events, collectibles and cars, although Playground missed the opportunity to add some popular '90s music in the same way as Forza Horizon 5Retrowave update.

Bug fixes and improvements

  • Fixed an issue with the 1994 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution III GSR where the color yellow was missing from the paint selection screen
  • Fixed an issue where player license plates would not reset after exiting the Hide and seek game mode
  • Fixed an issue where players could activate the car reset feature while moving
  • Fixed issues where players were unable to join Hide & Seek matches via the Festival playlist while in a convoy
  • Fixed an issue where players starting Hide & Seek from a DLC map would be sent to the main map instead of starting the session
  • Fixed issues with credits not being localized correctly in German, Danish, Spanish, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Dutch, Russian, and Swedish
