Like many older One Piece story arcs, the Fishman Island arc suffered from slow pacing. The remastered version will have 21 episodes compared to the original's 52. Aside from the anime releasing remastered episodes, an adaptation of the Straw Hats' One Piece novel has been confirmed. It was directed by Megumi Ishitani.

In November 2024, Eiichiro Oda posted a Q&A where he answered some of the biggest questions related to the One Piece manga. It also delved into the relationship between Luffy and his father. A new set of vivre cards was also released, giving audiences even more information about their favorite characters. Oda also took a two-week break to help with the production of the live-action One Piece, which they are currently filming season two of. The initial season received extremely positive acclaim, which is why it was renewed for two more seasons.
