Former Pakistan PM Khan arbitrarily detained: UN panel

GENEVA: A UN panel of experts has determined that the detention of former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan was arbitrary and violated international law, calling for his “immediate” release. In an opinion published on Monday, the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention expressed serious concerns about the multiple cases brought against Khan since he was removed from power in April 2022. It said his detention violated a range of international laws and norms and was “arbitrary.”
