FaZe Clan Hit While Streaming on Twitch

Key points

  • FaZe Clan was blocked during a live stream, but quickly resumed broadcasting.
  • Swatting carries serious risks for content creators, including post-traumatic stress disorder and potential harm.

FaZe clan members were hit during a Contraction streaming. The eSports organization is known for participating in several tournaments for games such as Counterattack: Global Offensive AND Valiantand for its controversial roster of Twitch streamers and content creators.

FaZe Clan will be hosting a Twitch subathon until September 30th, where their content creators will be streaming 24/7 to participate in various challenges and pranks to entertain their fans. This is also a way to maximize Twitch SUBtember, an annual event that offers discounts on subscriptions, giveaway subscription promotions, and additional Bits and Cheers for their favorite Twitch streamers. It is a highly anticipated event for viewers, as they get a good deal on subscriptions and support Twitch streamers, and streamers can also earn more revenue during this period.

However, members of FaZe Clan had a terrifying swatting incident during their September 19 subathon stream. According to a TMZ report, a person claiming to be in his 60s called 911 to claim he had committed a double homicide and provided the address of Faze Clan’s Los Angeles mansion. The stream captured the moment police officers arrived outside the mansion and viewers heard a megaphone calling for the streamers to come out with their hands up.

What happened after the FaZe Clan swatting incident?

Fortunately, the swatting incident was quickly defused as FaZe Clan streamers returned to the subathon afterward. They also deleted the VOD that included the swatting to avoid receiving bans or suspensions from Twitch. Many FaZe Clan fans have expressed concern over the situation, calling out people who think the swatting is a funny prank. Meanwhile, FaZe Clan's Twitter account and streamers Ronaldo and Lacy have started creating memes to lighten the situation.

Swatting is a dangerous prank that involves sending the police to the homes of content creators. Streamers have become frequent victims because many of them share parts of their lives or stream IRL, making them easy targets for pranks. Many well-known names such as Ludwig Ahgren, Adin Ross, and BeardedBlevins have been swatted during live streams, which thousands of terrified viewers have seen.

While many streamers and content creators have largely escaped swatting incidents unscathed, these pranks can still take a toll on them. Twitch streamer QTCinderella has shared that she developed PTSD due to repeated swatting attempts in her home. There have also been instances where people have been killed by police after being swatted as a prank, which further demonstrates how dangerous the act is and highlights the importance of providing more protection to content creators.
