How To Catch Fish

A feminine Sim in pink pants and a green top fishes at the Forgotten Grotto. Crystal formations sparkle in the background as she fishes in the dark pond.

Catching fish in The Sims 4 is actually much easier than trying to hook one in real life. All you have to do is travel to a fishing spot, which can be spotted along ponds and rivers as well as in parks. You’ll know a fishing spot when you see one, thanks to the wooden signs staked into the ground in front of bodies of water.

Click the wooden sign or the body of water to begin fishing. The more your Sim fishes, the stronger their Fishing skill will become! Higher Fishing skill levels can unlock different types of fish, often increasing in rarity and worth.

Did you know that there’s an aspiration centered around fishing? Give your Sim the Angling Ace aspiration to have them chase after a big catch!

You can also improve the quality of catches by using bait, like frogs, smaller fish, and even fruit.

Rarer, more valuable fish can often be found on hidden lots such as the Forgotten Grotto or Sylvan Glade.

Display your fish in an aquarium in your Sim’s house, or sell them from your inventory to make some quick cash!
