Hot on the heels of an impressive 2024, Sega is heading into the new year with a brand new racing game: Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. The upcoming game is a kart racer, similar to Mario Kartalthough not much of the game was shown apart from the presentation trailer.
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds was first revealed during The Game Awards 2024 show, with Sega giving fans a brief look at what to expect via a cinematic teaser trailer featuring Shadow the Hedgehog. In this trailer, Shadow starts up his car, leading him to start burning rubber and enter a rainbow-colored portal produced by a Warp Ring. While the trailer didn't feature any gameplay, it was enough to get some fans speculating about its premise, with some extra information provided by Sega adding fuel to the fire.

Some tracks can also terraform mid-race, giving players the ability to switch between playstyles during a lap. Therefore, some speculate as much Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds could use these mechanics in its gameplay.
Although Shadow's car is the main focus of the cinematic trailer, some fans suspect it is the Extreme Gear airboard Sonic Knights it could also be a type of vehicle, depending on how it can be seen hanging on a wall.
