How To Get And Use The Walkie-Talkie
Getting a Walkie-talkie is easy enough as long as you’re used to the store and the supply drop mechanic in the game. Access the Terminal and type “walkie” along with the number of these machines that you want. It’s necessary to get at least two of them since you can’t use it if you just have one.
Thankfully, a Walkie-talkie only costs $12 on the base level, which can further be impacted by random sales.
Once you order them and land on any moon, a drop will arrive and you have to interact with it to get them. Take one yourself and give the other to your friend, and now you both can communicate with each other. An important thing to know about the Walkie-talkie is that you always need to have it turned on.
Even if you’re not talking, you can only hear the person on the other end if you have the device on. You can see the control to do this on the top right of your screen when the item is equipped. You’ll be able to hear what someone says on the other side as long as the device is on, even if you don’t have it equipped currently.
However, you will have to equip it and hold down the left mouse button if you want to send a message.
Keep in mind that monsters can be attracted to the sound of Walkie-talkie being turned on and off, or if you try to talk into it. This can be quite detrimental if you’re outside and dogs have spawned. The device’s battery lasts a long time, so you don’t have to worry about running out of battery during your run.
