Star Citizen Cloud developer Imperium Games has apparently laid off employees, just weeks after it was reported to have stretched workers in the run-up to Citizencon.
As reported by Insider Gaming, this comes from a former employee, who claims that Cloud Imperium Games fired “a lot of staff” with “zero compensation.” Sources speaking to Insider Gaming confirm this and say that the layoffs have mainly affected the QA department.
Star Citizen Studio Reportedly Lays Off Staff Immediately After Citizencon
The employee who initially reported these layoffs later made his account private. However, at the time, they wrote that workers were being fired “without zero compensation” and soon after Cloud Imperium Games had “[worked] down to the bone without even a thank you.”
This last point refers to reports that a seven-day work week was imposed in the run-up to Citizencon. This was said to be in place for 18 consecutive days, meaning employees lost two weekends. A leaked email said they could take these days off at a later date.
