Best Sonic The Hedgehog Funko Pop! Figures In 2024

Sonic’s creators have claimed despite the gulf that has manifested between Mario and the blue blur since they were neck and neck in the early ’90s, they still think the hedgehog can be bigger than his plumbing rival one day. While I’m not convinced that will ever happen, Sonic fans have been eating well lately. Sure, Sonic Superstars was something of a swing and a miss, but between other games, TV shows, and blockbuster movies, there’s a lot for Sonic stans to be happy about right now.

Those reasons extend beyond media alone. There are also a lot of Sonic toys and collectibles to enjoy if you still need something to play with but the games aren’t doing it for you anymore. Sonic was the first video game series to get its own Squishmallows, all of which have made it into our guide to the best gaming Squishmallows, and there are also a fair few Sonic Funko Pops to choose from. Some of those Pops are better than others, so we’ve picked out the better ones and listed them for you below.

Best Sonic The Hedgehog Funko Pop! Figures

Super Sonic Funko Pop!

Super Sonic Funko Pop!

Chaos Emeralds Not Included

When Sonic has been given a yellow makeover, it means he has harnessed the power of all seven Chaos Emeralds to become Super Sonic. Not only does this Funko Pop! embody that, but there’s a chance the figure you receive is the very special edition Chase version.

Pros

  • No need to collect the Chaos Emeralds to go super
  • Chase variant of the Pop! also available
  • Better than Sonic because, well, he’s Super Sonic

Introduced to the Sonic games for the first time at a very young age, when I completed one for the first time and was met with a game over screen rather than congratulations, I was a little confused. Turns out you need to collect all of the Chaos Emeralds to truly complete those early Sonic games, and you also need all seven emeralds to harness the power of Super Sonic. This Pop! represents the form Sonic takes when he has collected all of the Chaos Emeralds (and once he has at least 50 rings in the original titles). Not only is the figure yellow like Super Sonic, but the hedgehog’s quills are also flared, just like they are when the blue blur goes super.

Amy Funko Pop!

Amy Funko Pop!

Hammer Time

Amy, technically the first of Sonic’s friends introduced when she debuted in Sonic CD, in Funko Pop! form. The figure comes complete with the pink hedgehog’s iconic red and yellow hammer.

Pros

  • A character as established in the series as Tails
  • Comes complete with Amy’s iconic hammer
  • The pink pairs perfectly with any of Sonic’s blue Pops

Ask almost anyone to name a character from Sonic other than Sonic himself without thinking about it, and they’ll say Tails. Ask for another and it’ll be Knuckles. That’s why those are the first two characters to have been added to the live-action movies after the OG hedgehog. It’s also a little unfair as even though who arrived first is a little hazy, Amy and Tails have been a part of Sonic’s world for pretty much the same amount of time. Introduced to the world for the first time in Sonic CD when her blue buddy is tasked with saving her, Amy has been swinging her red and yellow hammer for decades, and now she can do it in Funko Pop! form too via this figure.

shadow and super shadow funko pops

Shadow And Super Shadow Funko Pop! Two-Pack

Chaos Emeralds Not Included

Shadow and Super Shadow’s Funko Pops are part of a two-pack and can’t be bought separately. Both come with transparent stands to make it look like they’re levitating above the ground.

Pros

  • Releasing the same year Shadow joins the live-action movies
  • Two forms of Shadow in the same box
Cons

  • GameStop exclusive
  • Figures not available separately

What’s better than one Shadow the Hedgehog Funko Pop? Two Shadow the Hedgehog Funko Pops, of course. Don’t worry, the pair included in the two-pack aren’t identical. That would be somewhat pointless unless you’re trying to buy as many of the same Pop! as possible. Each to their own, if so. But no, this two-pack includes a regular Shadow and a Super Shadow. The latter is a little like the Super Sonic figure above but better because Shadow keeps his red markings after turning Super. If you’re as into Shadow as I am, the black and red hedgehog also has his own Lego set which you’ll find in our picks of the very best Sonic Lego sets on the market.

Dr. Eggman Funko Pop! Rides Figure

Dr. Eggman Funko Pop! Rides Figure

Wait, Is That Amy’s Hammer?

Funko Pop! Rides are figures that include a vehicle a famous character is synonymous with. In this case, Sonic’s Dr. Eggman who is very rarely seen not piloting some sort of mech like he is in this figure.

Pros

  • Eggman is always in a mech so his Pop! should be too
  • Part of Funko’s Deluxe Pop! Rides collection
Cons

  • Slightly more expensive since it’s a Pop! Ride figure

New characters introduced in subsequent games is one thing, but without Dr. Eggman, there is no Sonic. Every iconic hero needs an equally iconic villain to repeatedly clash with and Robotnik has been that for Sonic for more than 30 years. Throughout the decades, Eggman has almost exclusively been seen in various mechs, hiding his thin little legs that are on show occasionally when defeated by Sonic and he’s forced to use them. More often than not, that mech is the spherical Egg Pod. This Pop Ride has that in its center with rockets on either side, complete with faux fire and smoke to make it look like it’s launching off into the sky.

sonic ring scatter funko pop

Sonic Ring Scatter Funko Pop!

Quick, Grab Those Rings!

Sonic’s Ring Scatter Funko Pop! captures the moment from the original series of games when colliding with an enemy would result in the blue blur losing his rings. Knocked backwards through the air, forced to quickly get up and pick up any surviving rings.

Pros

  • Perfectly captures an iconic video game moment
  • Can almost hear the in-game sound just by looking at it
  • More fun than a standard figure, just standing there

Funko Pops don’t need to be nothing more than a reimagined version of a famous character, or one of those characters sitting in a vehicle they spend 90 percent of their time in. Sometimes there’s a moment so famous, or in this case one that happens so frequently, that it deserves a Funko Pop! figure of its very own. That’s where the Ring Scatter Sonic Pop! comes in. When Sonic was knocked back in those early games, his rings would fly everywhere, leaving him one strike away from losing a life unless he gathered some back up. Held up by the rings for this Pop! to make him look like he’s in mid-air, and on a pixelated patch of Green Hill Zone grass. Pop! perfection.

Metal Sonic Funko Pop!

Metal Sonic Funko Pop!

Sonic’s (Second) Most Dangerous Foe

Robotnik realized fast that he’d need help if he were to ever stand a chance of beating Sonic, hence the introduction of Metal Sonic. Better than Sonic in every way, at least on paper, the Funko Pop! version comes with a transparent stand to make it look like the antagonist is levitating.

Pros

  • Stand makes Pop! looks like it’s floating
  • An antagonist of Sonic for more than 30 years
  • Pairs perfectly with the Ring Scatter Sonic Pop!

It took Dr. Eggman just one crack at ridding his world of Sonic before realizing he was going to need more than the badniks he’d littered around and the mechs he’d built. In Sonic 2, the hedgehog was introduced to a metal version of himself, the inventively named Metal Sonic. Nothing better than a hero squaring off against an evil version of themselves, seemingly equally matched in every single way. The real Sonic has proved that’s not the case, of course, beating Metal Sonic countless times. The ultimate badnik keeps returning though, this time as Funko Pop! that can float using the stand it comes with. I’d like to see the real Sonic try and do that. Oh, yeah, right, Super Sonic.

Silver The Hedgehog Funko Pop!

Silver The Hedgehog Funko Pop!

A Funko Pop! From The Future

Silver the Hedgehog is a silver hedgehog, as his name suggests, from Sonic’s future, sent back in time to save his present. His first Funko Pop! perfectly recreates the hedgehog, his accessories demonstrating just how far into the future he has traveled back from.

Pros

  • Silver’s one and only Funko Pop, for now
  • Looks as good as a Silver Pop! could possibly look
Cons

  • Reminder of the severe lack of Silver we’ve been getting lately

I realize a lot of the focus in this guide so far has been on the OG Sonic characters from the first few years of the series, Shadow aside. There have been a lot more characters added to Sonic’s world since then. The only problem is, not many of them have Funko Pops yet. Thankfully, Silver does. Makes sense since he’s from 200 years in the future where I’m sure everyone has their own Funko Pop! He likely brought them all back for us to enjoy, and if you didn’t know that already, you can buy one through the links in the box above.

FAQ

What Is The Rarest Type Of Funko Pop?

Funko Pop! rarity can be judged in a number of ways, including the limited number manufactured or how much a figure is valued. If it’s the latter, then the rarest of all might be the Clockwork Orange Glow-In-The-Dark Pop! which is worth $13,400.

What Is The Hardest Funko Pop! To Find?

The hardest Funko Pops to find are the ones where only a limited number of them were ever made. The collection’s mascot Freddy Funko was turned into a Metaliic Gold figure in 2012 and since only 48 of them were ever made, they are notoriously difficult to track down.
