Oxygen not included (ONI), an ongoing project from Klei Entertainment, is presented as a space colony simulation video game. Within this game, players are given the responsibility of supervising their duplicants, aiding them in excavating, building, and maintaining an underground asteroid settlement.

To sustain their duplicates, players must ensure access to essential resources such as water, heat, food, and oxygen, while also taking care of their emotional well-being for optimal performance. Don't fire ONI just because it's a 2D game. It has a lot of depth and unlimited replayability. When starting a new game of ONIit is possible to change both the position of the starting asteroid and the general seed of the game.

Updated December 16, 2024 by Mac Wheeler: While there have been no major changes to the base version of Oxygen Not Included since this list was first published, it has now been updated to add some more interesting map seeds. These new suits are slightly different and are all suitable for playing ONI in survival mode. They are new, easy for players to use, and offer an easy entry point with access to important resources very close to the starting area. They also have nearby asteroids that become exploitable in the later stages of the game. It can be difficult to find good ONI map seeds, and the ones on this list can help solve this problem.

Huge ice biome

This is an interesting map seed for Oxygen not included. It's a little different from all the others on this list and was included because of the easy access it provides to a truly massive ice biome. However, it must be said that some exploration and expansion will be required to take advantage of this biome.

Right next to the starting area there are two steam vents in one place. This basically means immediate access to a lot of steam, which, of course, also means that the player has an immediate source of water. There's also a radioactive asteroid nearby, which is always useful. Distant asteroids include a superconducting asteroid, a swamp asteroid, and a tundra asteroid. It will take some time before the player can exploit them, but once possible, they will be a rich source of resources.

Immediate access to natural gas

This map is seeded for Oxygen not included it is interesting mainly because the player will have access to a natural gas geyser almost immediately. There is a natural gas geyser directly below the starting location. This opens up the possibility of getting a natural gas generator online very quickly.

This suit also has a steam geyser just to the left of the starting position, which means immediate access to steam, which can then be turned into water. And as with most good ONI semi map, there is a radioactive asteroid nearby. Overall, this is a suit that offers a solid start in Survival mode. Distant asteroids include a tundra asteroid and a swamp asteroid, which will also become useful later in the game.

This seed for Oxygen not included was added to this list for a very simple reason: it ensures access to plenty of natural gas and steam right from the start. With just a little exploration, the player will discover two natural gas geysers and two steam vents very close to the starting point of the map.

There is a radioactive swamp asteroid nearby, which also has the metal-rich feature, and this will be a fantastic source of resources once the player can access it. Distant asteroids include a swamp asteroid and a tundra asteroid. Later in the game, when the player can reach them, they will be very useful indeed.

This is a fantastic seed to start a new game Oxygen not included. The closest starting asteroid is a radioactive swamp map. This is a bit of a tricky map to get into and doesn't provide as much power as other maps with the radioactive feature. However, it can support the entire pokeshell production chain.

Other great features of this map seed included 4 Natural Gas, Fresh Sludge, Polluted Water Vent, 2 Salt Water, 2 Cold Steam, Chlorine, 1 Aluminum, 2 Gold, 1 Minor Volcano, 1 Polluted Hot Oxygen, and 3 Oil Wells . These are all very useful resources in this resource management style game.

Direct passage to the cold biome

Another map seed starting with a nearby radioactive swamp asteroid. These can be useful for increasing energy production, although there are better asteroids for producing energy. One of the best advantages of this ONI suit is that there is a large number of hatches on this map. And with so many hatches, it means there will be plenty of free coal available to collect.

Other features of this suit include a geyser of steam and water. One of the main advantages is that it offers a fairly direct route to the cold biome, without contracting Slimelung.

Possible risk of slimelung

The third Oxygen not includedThe game seed here begins with a nearby radioactive swamp asteroid. And while this isn't the best asteroid to have near, it's not the worst either. However, players should be aware that there is a potential risk of Slimelung, due to the amount of slime present on this map. But it's worth the risk.

Other great features of this seed included lots of copper, even some water, and a geyser of natural gas. Down below there are caves of polluted O2 and below these an oil reserve.

Lots of metal near the start

Once again, this seed has a radioactive asteroid nearby. It's surprising how many great map suits have this as a main feature. Many players seem to prefer this type of asteroid on hand, even though, on paper, there are better ones.

However, this radioactive swamp asteroid is rich in metals and this is a big plus for this map. Other useful resources on this map include a mud geyser, a gold geyser, and a minor volcano. A useful combination, especially during the mid-game.

An oil well and an iron volcano

This ONI seed has the usual radioactive asteroid nearby. THE Oxygen not included the community seems to prefer this type of asteroid to be available at the start of a new game. A big plus for this map seed is that both an oil well and an iron volcano are available almost from the start of this open-world game.

Other resources on this map include 2 steam vents, a polluted water geyser, a chlorine geyser and polluted oxygen. These are all very useful resources even when starting a new game.

All the oil you need

Once again, the usual radioactive swamp asteroid is close to home with this map seed. But what makes this map special is the fact that there are two leaking oil cracks very near the start. This is an incredibly useful resource to get your game off to a great start.

Other resources abound on this map. This includes 2 vents for cold steam, an iron volcano and a chlorine volcano, polluted oxygen and natural gas. These are all very valuable starting resources, making it a great ONI seed.

2 Seed ONI 1079447926

Two copper volcanoes at the beginning

As usual, there is a radioactive asteroid nearby. Most good ONI map seeds have this feature. But what really sets this seed apart from others is that it has two very useful copper volcanoes at the start. This is pretty much perfect for the beginning of this resource management game.

There is also a profusion of other useful resources provided by this seed. A natural gas geyser, a chlorine gas vent, an iron volcano, a cold sludge geyser, a hydrogen vent, 2 cold steam vents, and polluted water. This is a huge volume of resources.

Cobalt in the starting area

This last entry is not a seed, it is a specific starting location on the default map. But it's worth including for a very good reason. It has the rare cobalt resource in the starting area. Any experienced ONI player will explain that finding cobalt on a map is a serendipitous occurrence, and in some games it is not available at all.

There are also many other resources nearby. Including iron, natural gas, cold steam, hydrogen, water, salt water, cold sludge and oil. This profusion of useful resources combined with the cobalt reserves make this ONI map something special.
