Baldur's Gate 3 rewards players for gathering and using information, and there's no better way to do that than through intelligence skills.

Baldur's Gate 3 demonstrates the magic found in DNDwith players able to choose between various classes that provide such abilities. Of these, the wizard is probably the most obvious, with his command over the Storyline. Relevant to DND campaign, players will find various items that will help them, and all intelligence-boosting items are crucial for such magical builds as they use it for their spells. Items found that provide bonuses to or with intelligence will be incredibly valuable and can lead to powerful magical builds.

Updated October 15, 2024 by Hamza Haq: In Baldur's Gate 3, intelligence and spellcasting are intrinsically linked together as two sides of the same coin. What enhances intelligence also enhances spellcasting, if indirectly, and vice versa. This makes items that increase the power and reliability of spells coveted by intelligence-based characters, and are often more useful than a simple increase in INT. Of course, stat boosts will always have their place, but as the game progresses into later acts, their value begins to diminish in the face of OP items that may not necessarily directly increase intelligence, but boost classes of intelligence are all the same.

7 Sharp Enchanter's Hat

Guarantees that spell attacks are never critical misses

Sharp Enchanter's Hat in Baldurs Gate 3

Any character who invests in intelligence Baldur's Gate 3 is an enchanter of some sort, meaning that items that make spell casting easier directly benefit it. Sharp Enchanter's Hat it's a helmet that makes it so that whenever an attack roll with a spell fails critically, i.e. the die rolls a 1 or 2, the die is rolled again.

This means that spell attack rolls are much more likely to hit and are less dependent on gambling than other attack types. It's as if the player has a permanent advantage on these types of shots with the certainty that they can never fail catastrophically. For spellcasters, there are few things worth more than this.

6 The pointed hat

Grants a bonus to persuasion checks based on the user's intelligence modifier

  • Found in a chest in the Last Days Circus behind Lucretious.

Dialogue is an important part Baldur's Gate 3, with many crucial moments involving him. Some classes are naturally better at maneuvering dialogue than others, with wizards not being as proficient.

The pointed hat grants a certain fluidity in engaging in dialogue, giving a bonus to persuasion checks equal to the user's intelligence modifier. Since wizards are one of the main classes that use intelligence, wearing this hat can be a useful choice for some dialogue-heavy parts of the game.

If players want to have a better chance of fighting the hordes of the Absolute in Baldur's Gate 3, then look for these one-handed weapons.

Wizards are unable to wield the Infernal Rapiersince it's a rapier and not a staff, but Eldritch Knights and Arcane Trickster Rogues have the required proficiency. As such, this weapon can be useful for those classes as it uses the spellcasting modifier for attack rolls and as they also scale with Intelligence, it can be a useful item.

4 Markoheshkir

Legendary +2 quarterstaff that imbues the user with elemental magic

Markoheshkir in BG3

For Intelligence-based classes, and indeed for any type of spellcaster, the Markoheshkir it is one of the best legendary weapons ever Baldur's Gate 3. It is a +2 quarterstaff with a unique effect that makes it incredibly strong. When equipped, Markoheshkir increases spell save DC and spell attack rolls by +1, allows the wearer to cast a spell of his choice without expending a spell slot, and gives him the ability to imbue himself with magic elemental.

Markoheshkir is strongest in the hands of an elemental spellcaster such as the Conjuration Wizard. This is due to her special ability, Kereska's Favor, which grants the caster an element of their choice: lightning, thunder, poison, fire, cold, or acid. A character imbued with lightning, for example, will also gain two lightning spells (Thunderbolt, Chain Lightning), as well as a direct increase in lightning damage and increased resistance to lightning. Additionally, this buff lasts until your next long rest or until Markoheshkir is equipped. It's an incredibly powerful weapon for casters, especially those who rely on intelligence.

3 Deformed fascia of the intellect

Increases intelligence to 17

  • Obtainable from Lump the Enlightened in the Cursed Village.

Ways to increase stats will naturally be valuable items for players to obtain. However, the Deformed fascia of the intellect it's not as useful on wizards because the class already has a high intelligence score.

The Warped Band of Intellect can be valuable to any other class that requires an intelligence boost, especially Eldritch Knight and Arcane Trickster, as they also require other stats for their builds. Since intelligence increases the chance of hitting an enemy with a spell, the warped intellect band can be a great starting acquisition for these classes.

Baldur's Gate 3: How to Find and Use the Mirror of Loss

While players can choose anyone as the main character in Baldur's Gate 3, it can be argued that Shadowheart is the true protagonist of the game.

Locked behind some dialogue controls, the mirror can increase Intelligence by +2, a boost that can stack with other skill-boosting items. However, players will need to come adequately prepared, as it can be a bit tricky to get through the required dialogue checks.

1 Aunt Ethel's hair

Increases a skill by +1

Baldur's Gate 3 Aunt Ethel's hair on the floor

  • Given by Aunt Ethel after reducing her health to 20% with non-lethal damage activated during the boss fight.

It will always be important to obtain an item that can increase a player's ability score by +1. Aunt Ethel's hair does just that, increasing any player skill by +1.

Obviously, the +1 advantage granted by the hair is extremely valuable, but players can obtain the item as soon as they step off the nautiloid if they wish. The buff is also permanent, making it an incredibly early item that will last until the end of the game and can stack with bonuses from others.
