Baldur’s Gate 3 Players Are Collecting Dead NPCs

Baldur’s Gate 3 gives you a ridiculous amount of freedom to tackle the main story. Not just through the ethical dilemmas and story decisions you face, but in terms of how you physically go about it. Now, players are finding yet another, almost definitely unintended, way to take down their foes – collecting dead bodies and shoving them in a chest.

Yup, it’s like the most messed up trading card game of all time. Turns out, Baldur’s Gate 3 lets you collect as many dead bodies as you want and shove them in your camp supplies chest that follows you throughout the game. This way, you can compare your finds with other players – and even use them for a cheeky bit of necromancy if you’re in a pinch.

We spotted this unique way to play in a completely unrelated Reddit thread, discussing some Speak with Dead opportunities players might miss in Act 1. Here, someone shared that they’d been dragging dead enemies back to camp so someone who didn’t kill them could use the spell – and now their chest is full of the bastards. But apparently, corpse collecting is quite a popular hobby, so not everyone was convinced.

“Yeah. Ok. We definitely believe you,” says Reddit user stevejuliet. “That’s totally the reason you’ve been stuffing the chest with corpses.”

“Astarion calls that the snack fridge,” adds wordswitch. But turns out that our vampire friend isn’t the only one making use of the collection. “Mine is a minion fridge”, says VikarValbrand. Necromancers really ought to be more reviled in Faerûn, if this is what they’re getting up to behind the scenes.

Lo and behold, they’re not the only players in the subreddit bragging about their corpse collections. A couple of weeks ago, user Waffle842 shared their unique dead body storage space – the inside of a ribcage. Somehow, they’ve shoved a few unfortunate victims in there, and there’s still room for more. If their companions don’t stage some kind of intervention first. That is if they even have any companions left…

For some reason, PS5 players don’t seem to be able to put bodies in our camp supplies, so we miss out on the fun. I have been able to get a few bodies in my pack if I carry them one at a time, so you might be able to pull this off if you’re extremely dedicated. And really, you’d have to be to choose to go down this path in the first place.
