Baldur’s Gate 3 Are Cheesing Raphael With A Necrotic Corpse

Baldur’s Gate 3 has a whole bunch of tough fights, but you’ll struggle to find a more difficult opponent than Raphael, the charismatic cambion that you encounter part way into Act 1. Players have been finding a way to make a mockery out of every single tough fight since the game launched, taking down boss fights via reverse pickpocketing or turning them into cats. Now they’ve found an easy way to take down Raphael, and you don’t have to move a muscle.

In Act 3, you’ll more than likely visit Cazador’s Palace and stumble across the dead body of Victoria, a small girl who was tragically killed by a vampire before the player character even meets her. When you find her, you’ll notice that she’s necrotic, which means that her body releases a damaging necoritc aura in a wide radius. You can probably see where this is going.

Instead of respecting the dead and leaving her alone, Baldur’s Gate 3 players have been taking poor Victoria and using her to cheese some of the game’s hardest fights. Raphael is one such example, as u/Boo_And_Minsc_ recently shared their ridiculous method of taking down the cambion on the Baldur’s Gate 3 subreddit earlier today.

For starters, you need to take Victoria and place her down in the House of Hope, close to where Raphael appears. Then you’ll need to annoy him to start the fight, and pinching all of his stuff is a good way to do that. Try and escape and Raphael will appear ready for a showdown, but he won’t be aware of the necrotic aura that he’s standing in. The moment one of your characters is given their turn in combat, Raphael will gradually take damage every few seconds until he keels over dead, giving you your hard-earned victory.

What makes this tactic even more ridiculous is that is seems to work for every tough fight you can start in Act 3, giving you a ludicrously powerful method of cheesing your way through the final third of the game if you choose to do so. They demonstrate this by taking down a completely different boss fight in the exact same way in a separate Reddit post.

It’s a little cheap, but the option is there if you’re struggling against Raphael and want an easy way out. You might need one too, as players recently discovered that Baldur’s Gate 3’s latest patch has actually made the Raphael boss fight even tougher, increasing his level, Wisdom, and allowing him to Multi-Attack twice every turn if you’re playing in Tactical Mode. Nothing that a nercotic corpse can’t fix though.
