Argentina coach slams chaotic ‘scandal’ at Olympic soccer match vs Morocco

WASHINGTON: Second-half goals from Argentine forwards Juan Brunetta and Maximiliano Meza gave Mexico's Liga MX a 4-1 victory over Major League Soccer in the MLS All-Star Game on Wednesday.

Argentine striker German Berterame and Moroccan winger Oussama Idrissi also scored for the Mexican league's elite team in the triumph in Columbus, Ohio.

MLS had won both previous All-Star meetings with its Mexican league rivals, drawing 1-1 and winning 3-2 on penalties in 2021 and triumphing 2-1 in 2022.

Berterame, a 25-year-old striker for CF Monterrey in Mexico, opened the scoring in the 16th minute.

Columbus Crew's Colombian winger Cucho Hernandez equalized for MLS in the 17th minute.

Idrissi responded for Liga MX in the 41st minute, giving his team a 2-1 lead at half-time.

Reserve striker Brunetta of Tigres UANL increased the Liga MX lead in the 68th minute and Meza, a Monterrey winger who also came off the bench at the start of the second half, scored another goal in the 69th to seal the final result.

Inter Miami's Lionel Messi has not played for MLS due to a right ankle injury suffered during Argentina's victory over Colombia in the Copa America final.

Messi, who also missed two MLS games last week, is out of action for Miami's home game against Puebla on Saturday, as Inter begin their defense of the Leagues Cup, a second-year tournament involving MLS and Liga MX clubs that begins on Friday.
