This is a bold decision that reflects the position of this friendly country on the right side of history, he added.

Secretary-General Gamal Roshdy’s spokesman said the growing recognition of a Palestinian state reflects the international community’s growing belief in the impossibility of continued occupation and the need to implement a two-state solution.

Roshdy said recognition is an important step towards establishing a Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967 borders.

Roszdy quoted the Secretary-General, calling on all countries to recognize the State of Palestine as soon as possible. The call also embodies the two-state solution and makes a real contribution to achieving peace and ending the occupation,
