The shortcut idea aims to improve late-game progression and encourage combat in other locations on the map.
A Surveillance 2 a fan recently suggested adding shortcuts for escort robots on maps for the Push game mode. This theorist Surveillance 2 the map feature would unlock after both teams pass their respective checkpoints in hopes of breaking late-game stalemates.
Push is a game mode introduced in Surveillance 2 in which players must fight for control of a robot that pushes a barricade towards the enemy team. Halfway between the midpoint and the finish line, each team has a checkpoint that can be captured after a few seconds, allowing fallen teammates to spawn closer to the robot, as long as it isn't pushed back beyond the point.

One creative Overwatch 2 player reimagines some heroes as beings from “outer space,” showing several fan-favorite characters in a whole new light.
However, when both teams pushed the robot past their respective checkpoints after taking control of the map, many fans noted that it is usually difficult to push further, as it often requires winning several skirmishes to do so. One such player, VeganCanary, shared a potential solution to this problem Surveillance 2 Push Problem on Reddit: After both teams capture their checkpoints, the Push robot may start taking a shortcut back to the control team's barricade. Their diagram of the New Queen Street map suggested a route that bypassed the long curve around the overpass, eliminating almost half the normal travel time.
Overwatch 2 Fan Tip: Push Bot Shortcuts
VeganCanary offered several reasons why this might be an improvement. In addition to making it easier to progress through matches, the change in traffic flow would also change how players approach maps, encouraging fights to break out in other locations, keeping matches interesting and dynamic. Many of their fellow fans agree, saying it could help speed things up Surveillance 2 matches allowing others to finish without having to go to extra time.
On the other hand, many fans didn't like VeganCanary's suggestion. Some have pointed out that the precious few seconds gained by taking the long route give the team that lost the last fight a chance to regroup and claim the robot in the neutral zone without losing further ground. Others also suggested that it would have complicated spawning as well, as the robot would have quickly passed the checkpoint and perhaps forced the losing team to revive at the original spawning point, making the return even more difficult.
Regardless, this change to Push maps probably isn't coming anytime soon. In addition to the coding required to make this change, each Push in map Surveillance 2 would need to be reworked to create a physical shortcut for the robot to traverse. Even so, if Surveillance 2 Ever wanted to make major changes to Push, VeganCanary's suggestion would be a game-changer.
