Baldur’s Gate 3: 5 Tips For Strength-Based Characters

If you’re prioritising strength in your Baldur’s Gate 3 character, check out these helpful tips.

Talking to animals can reveal secrets or story beats about an area. There are also some quests relating to some of these furry friends. You will start to see more cats in the game once you reach Act Two and onward. This guide lists every single cat in the game and where to find them.

Where To Find Tara The Tressym

Baldur's Gate 3 Tara the Tressym growling with wings flared on a nest

If you choose Gale as an origin player character at the start of the game, you will find Tara the cat, or rather the magical beast, sitting in camp. Tara will be available in camp at all times if you are playing Gale.

As an original player, you can only see Tara upon reaching Act Three of the game. In Act Three, Tara can be found on the rooftops of the Open Hand Temple in Rivington.

You will need to use special abilities in order to access the roof, such as Fly, Misty Step, or a person with high Strength so that their Jump has a greater distance.

Tara will be at the center of the rooftops on a nest. She is involved with the quest Find The Missing Letters, so you will find some letters in the nest. You will receive the Ring of Blink after an interaction with her. You should drink a Speaking With Animals potion or use Gale to speak to her.

After finding Tara on the temple rooftop and speaking to Gale, you can find her in two other locations. Speaking to her at each location will reward you with items. The table below is the exact order of rooftops you will find her on after each interaction.

Tara’s Location

Reward

Open Hand Temple Roof

Ring of Blink

Devil’s Fee Roof

Hat of the Sharp Caster

Highberry’s Home Roof

Slinging Shoes

Where To Find His Majesty

Baldur's Gate 3 His Majesty hissing

His Majesty is the first sphynx cat you will find in Baldur’s Gate 3. He can be found in Act Two. His Majesty takes shelter in Last Light Inn, beside where Barcus Wroot would be and near where Raphael is playing chess with Mol.

This cat is not particularly happy with anyone and requests milk from Isobel, to no avail. You cannot find and give him some milk, as nothing will happen.

No matter your dialogue choices with this guy, he will remain grumpy. You can acquire multiple companion approval or disapproval in your choices, though.

Where To Find Grub The Cat

Baldur's Gate 3 Grub In Camp

Grub is found alongside a child named Yenna at the entrance of Rivington, as you first walk into Act Three. Yenna is a small part of a bigger series of events in Act Three. Both Yenna and Grub will stay in your camp regardless of your dialogue choices when meeting them first.

As you progress through the game and exhaust the dialogue of both the child and cat, you will learn more about their past and Yenna’s mother. The only way to figure out more about Yenna early is by speaking to Grub.

Baldur’s Gate 3: How To Recruit All The Secret Summonable Companions

There are some companions that are pretty easy to miss in your playthrough of Baldur’s Gate 3. Learn how to summon them in this guide.

Where To Find Malta The Cat

Baldur's Gate 3 Malta meowing

Malta is one of the easiest cats to miss. He is located behind some buildings in Act Three, in the Lower City. Head to the Lower City Central Wall waypoint. From there, turn left, then go around and behind the buildings that the waypoint is on.

This furry friend will want to join your party, but ultimately does not. If Baelen Bonecloak died in Act One in the Underdark, you can speak with Derryth and the cat and eventually get Malta to keep Derryth company in her shop.

Where To Find Kira The Cat

Baldur's Gate 3 kira the cat meowing

Kira is another cat you may walk right by without noticing. She is in Act Three, hiding behind the front desk of Sharess’ Caress, which is beside the waypoint South Span of Wyrm’s Crossing.

There is not much to this cat. If you offend her, you will not be able to speak with her again. With enough compliments and polite small talk, Kira can share information about the customers that come and go, but that is about it.

Where To Find Steelclaw The Cat

Baldur's Gate 3 Steelclaw sitting

Steelclaw is the third sphynx you will find in the game. She is a fearless cat that is found on the outskirts of Moonrise Towers in Act Two. You can find her by going into the first room to your left in Moonrise Towers, then into the right-hand room, and then continuing straight past a trader and a man hiding behind crates.

The door next to the man behind wooden crates will lead you to the outside perimeter of the tower, where you will find Steelclaw near the back. Steelclaw can be found attacking and killing an illlithid tadpole. She does not fear the horrors of the Shadow-Cursed Lands; they fear her.

Myshka

Baldur's Gate 3 Myshka meowing

Myshka is a special interaction above all of these cats. He will ask if you are his mommy. You can find Myshka in the alley beside and behind Bonecloak’s Apothecary. The closest waypoint is Lower City Central Wall.

If Baelen Bonecloak died in Act Two within the Underdark, Derryth will report feeling lonely in her apothecary shop. Because of this, you have the ability to convince Myshka to keep Derryth company.

If you tell Myshka that you are indeed his mommy, he will follow you around for a bit until you stray too far from his original location. You can revisit him multiple times, with the dialogue option, “It’s me, my son” and he will follow you again.

Where To Find Barsik The Cat

Baldur's Gate 3 Barsik meowing

Barsik is within the Lower City of Act Three. He is near the entrance to the shop that Gale wants to visit, Sorcerous Sundries. The closest waypoint is Lower City Central Wall, where you must turn right and walk across the way.

He can be found to the left of the entrance. There is not much you can discuss with Barsik. He is an avid preacher for the goddess of felines, Shares, and will only discuss his beliefs with you.

Where To Find Zambomba The Cat

Baldur's Gate 3 Zambomba meowing

There is an adorable cat duo that make themselves comfy in a warm and delicious kitchen in the Lower City in Act Three. You can find Zambomba in the kitchen of Elfsong Tavern. Zambomba and his companion, Tambourine, both see humans as servants.

There is not much to discuss with Zambomba. He will request that you kill the rats, as the kitchen staff are waiting for them to do it, but they are above such a measly activity. Zambomba refers to you and the kitchen staff as servants.

Where To Find Tambourine The Cat

Baldur's Gate 3 Tambourine meowing

Tambourine accompanies her feline friend in the Lower City in Act Three. You can find them both within the Elfsong Tavern kitchen, wandering around or napping. Just like Zambomba, the only thing that Tambourine will say to you if you use Speak With Animals is to dispose of the rats.

Elfsong Tavern is a building away from the Basilisk Gate waypoint, the first waypoint you find upon entering the Lower City of Baldur’s Gate. When you see a patio with lots of patrons, you will know you’re in the right place.
