Alan Wake 2 Pre-Order Guide

More than 13 years after the first game was released, Alan Wake returns this October in a highly anticipated sequel. Players will return to Bright Falls, this time playing through the story of FBI agent Saga Anderson as well as Wake. The lead character is trapped in a dark, alternate dimension, somewhere to which he was presumably banished after the mysterious ending of the first game.

Alan Wake 2 will launch in what has quickly become a very busy October. Originally releasing on October 17, Remedy made the wise decision to delay the game by ten days. Not because it needs to be polished or due to it likely not being quite ready in time, but because the sequel’s original release date fell just three days before the joint-arrival of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Super Mario Bros. Wonder.

No offense intended to Alan Wake 2, especially after playing the remaster of the original to prepare for the sequel and loving it, but if the writer were to make the Spidey vs. Mario battle a triple threat, Wake would be leaving the match in a distant third. Remedy was upfront about the reason for the delay, admitting it’s so people don’t have to make that choice. Well, at least not for an additional week as Alan Wake 2 will now be released on October 27, just in time for Halloween.

Alan Wake 2 got a new trailer at Gamescom, the first one showing some Wake gameplay after the previous trailer had focused on Saga who finds the man after which the games are named right at the end. It seems the game will be split between Bright Falls and New York City with the Alan gameplay, or most of it, taking place in the latter. Alan Wake 2 launches on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on October 27, 2023, but it will only be available digitally. A controversial decision by Remedy, but as of right now, there will be no physical version of the highly-anticipated sequel.
