On Reddit, Pokemon TCG fan Cpt_JimBob_Sherwood shared his new bounty with other players and explained how it came about. Apparently, Cpt_JimBob_Sherwood walked into a gas station and saw a display with Pokémon cards on sale from the recent Surgeing Sparks expansion. With about 20 packs on display, Cpt_JimBob_Sherwood had the idea to simply ask the store clerk if he could take the store display if he purchased all the card packs shown on it. The store clerk agreed, and the result can be seen in the photo from the Reddit post, with the store display hidden in the backseat of the fan's car.

Some Pokemon TCG the collectors who responded were a little envious and had never thought to ask something like this before. However, many others shared photos of their own store displays that they had managed to take home, including one fan with another Impetuous sparks store display and another with a Pokemon TCG Sword and Shield Fushion Strike display. In some cases, fans asked for the displays like Cpt_JimBob_Sherwood did, while in others, store clerks simply offered them to fans.


Typically, store displays like these tend to be thrown away or returned once the promotion ends. Some Pokémon fans with retail experience said that bringing home a store display like this could actually do the gas station a favor, since they don't have to deal with taking it down themselves now. While Cpt_JimBob_Sherwood unfortunately did not find the Special Illustration Rare Pikachu card in the numerous packages included on the display they were looking for. That particular card has been at the top of many fans' wish lists, and purchasing it alone has been quite expensive for some collectors. While it's a shame that they didn't get exactly what they wanted, for some, what Cpt_JimBob_Sherwood achieved is still pretty rare and cool.
