The author of Metro Awakening talks about the film's potential

Things can happen in an instant, completely destroying your expectations and hopes. I'm a little superstitious, so I don't reveal that thing I'm working on, on different projects as a screenwriter.

Glukhovsky stated that, as a writer, writing video games has more similarities to films than novels. When writing a novel, Glukhovsky says authors can experiment much more with narrative than with a video game or film, especially when it comes to structure.


I think writing for a game, for me, is closer to writing for a movie because the story in general, when you create the overall arc and plot, it has to be clear and tight. When you write a book, you can just improvise, and you probably don't even know exactly what's going to happen to your main character, you just figure out more or less what the end station is for that character, and then what you want thematically, to convey, right?

While when you write a movie script you have to structure it, understand that this is exactly the emotional curve you want your character to go through. So it's more engineered I would say. Writing a video game is getting closer and closer to this. You have to go through certain emotions, right?

While it wasn't initially planned, Glukhovsky sees the potential Subway be a transmedia machine capable of delivering useful experiences in a wide range of formats. Hopefully it will get a chance to see this potential realized and fans of the franchise will be able to enjoy it Subway movies, comics or series.
