The last thing we expected from The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom was the ability to disguise herself as a cat, not to mention the ability to converse with them like some sort of Hylian Doctor Dolittle. Yet that’s exactly what this adorable costume does, and it might be one of the highlights of the title. Aside from playing as Zelda, defeating evil and summoning giant insects.
Once Zelda has the ability to change outfits, she can traverse Hyrule and find quests that reward her with new costumes, scan amiibo for potential rizz, or stumble upon rare finds in the most unlikely places. As for the cat outfit, it awaits you in Kakariko Village.
Where to find the cat suit
The cat suit is earned as part of the “Looking for Local Cats” Mission in Kakariko Villagewhich will be available after completing the Hyrule Castle dungeon and defeating Ganon.
Now that Zelda can wear costumes instead of remaining in disguise, she can help the locals without hindrance. Fast travel to Kakariko and talk to the old man standing to the right of the village well.
He will ask you to listen to his story of heartbreak and how his precious feline has suddenly disappeared before mentioning that apparently There is a dress that gives whoever wears it the ability to talk to cats. It is basically a superpower granted by the fabric.
It turns out she sells this mystical clothing because she is allergic to cats. So why would you buy it in the first place?
How to get the cat costume
After listening to the old man, you will have to meet the woman in possession of the costumelocated outside his house in the southeast of the city. Unfortunately, he won't give up his magical animal costume without asking for a favor.
He wants you to dig up his “secret hideout” on the other side of town, located under a patch of earth beneath one of Kakariko's many windmills. Unfortunately, a cat is sitting on the spot. You have to coax him out by making him lay eggs with his favorite food – a grilled fish.
You should have gotten the Grilled Fish echo in Seesyde Village as part of the Jabul Waters questline. If not, return there and you'll find one resting on the docks.
Then, use a Holmill to dig up the bagand you will automatically be thrown into a short sequence to receive the outfit. You can now talk to the cats and progress through the mission. The next step is to find the old man's missing kitten.
Where to find the old man's cat
Put on the suit and start talking to the cat you just calmed down with a fish. He has no idea and directs you to other cats throughout Kakariko. He starts with the cat on the roof of the house directly across from the chicken coop, who will then direct you to a friend of his on top of a windmill.
This windmill is located in the northwest part of the city and its cat is a fluffy white variety. Use water blocks or some other combination of echoes to get there and chat with them.
You will then be directed to the exact location of the old man's cat – a tree on the outskirts of the city where they settled in for a very long nap.
There are lots of cats in Kakariko Village, but most of them will just tell you to disappear.
Now, immediately leave the city, heading east, and follow the dirt path. This will eventually lead you to a tree with a cat sitting on top. Talk to them and they will come home right away. Chat with the old man to complete this quest and earn ten bunches of grapes for your troubles. A small reward, but let's face it, you were there for the adorable cat suit.
