When you first create a fresh world in Lego Fortnite, you’ll spawn in a grassland biome with a random NPC, who will help guide you through the process of making a village. Like many other sandbox games, you can create a plethora of items, workbenches, and buildings that each serve specific purposes.

Lego Fortnite: 9 Beginner Tips
We spills the bricks on what you need to know.
However, this list of items can get incredibly overwhelming to navigate when you are first starting out, since different workbenches and tools can only be utilized in specific instances. If you are in dire need of some guidance and are wondering which items are the best to craft first, then look no further.
Since all the items on this list are important to craft at the start of any Lego Fortnite world, this list is organized in descending order of which items can be crafted right when you spawn. As you craft the items that appear at the top of this list, you will then unlock the crafting recipes for items that appear towards the bottom.
10 Campfire
-
Campfire Recipe:
Three Wood
One of the first items you’ll create in Lego Fortnite is the Campfire, since this fire creates a gathering place for all of your villagers. Most importantly, whenever the game turns to night, the temperature of the world will get significantly colder.
By standing next to the campfire you can keep yourself warm at night, thus mitigating any frost damage. Sadly, you can not use the campfire to cook items like eggs or meat, so this item is only useful for providing light and warmth at night.
9 Simple Shack
-
Simple Shack Recipe:
Six Wood
While the Simple Shack is not the most appealing structure to look at, it serves an important purpose. By building the Simple Shack, you can familiarize yourself with the game’s unique building system that allows you to slowly construct a house with Lego blocks.
Furthermore, whenever it rains, you will not be able to access items such as a crafting table if they are not placed undercover. By crafting multiple Simple Shacks, you can create a covered area for all of your Stations.
8 Crafting Bench
-
Crafting Bench Recipe:
Three Wood and Five Granite
The Crafting Bench is the first Station that you gain access to at the start of the game, so chances are you will want to build it incredibly early in your playthrough. In Lego Fortnite, Stations allow you to craft more advanced items, such as fabrics, tools, or refined ores.

Ranking all the diverse biomes you will come across in Lego Fortnite.
Unlike other Stations in the game, the Crafting Bench can also be upgraded, just like the Village Totem. By upgrading the Crafting Bench, you will gain access to high-tier tools and weapons that deal more damage and have increased durability.
7 Village Totem
-
Village Totem Recipe:
Ten Wood and Ten Granite
When you start a settlement in Lego Fortnite, the Village Totem is by far the most important item to place. This totem designates a portion of the map as your village, which automatically places a marker on the map for you to easily locate your home.
Furthermore, mobs can not spawn within the borders of your village, meaning that building a wall around this area will ensure your safety. Keep in mind that the Village Totem can be upgraded up to ten times, with each advancement unlocking more items and villager slots.
6 Torches
-
Torches Recipe:
Three Wood and Five Vines
As nighttime approaches, head into the tool section of the Crafting Bench and make some Torches out of vines and wooden sticks for you and your friends to carry around. You can slot this item into your off-hand in the toolbar, so it doesn’t take up important space in your inventory.
Torches are fantastic items because they passively serve two different functions. While holding this torch at night, you will light up the surrounding area and also prevent yourself from taking frost damage from colder temperatures.
5 Lumber Mill
-
Lumber Mill Recipe:
8 Wood and 15 Granite
The Lumber Mill is another Station, which focuses on refining wood into different items. For example, you can place a Wooden Log in the Lumber Mill to turn it into Wooden Planks, which are used in furniture recipes.
Furthermore, the Lumber Mill can turn wood into sticks, which are used in crafting recipes for weapons, village upgrades, and other workbenches. Keep in mind that if you do want to craft planks, this item can only be crafted from the most basic type of wood found in Grasslands.

Forest Axe Recipe:
Five Wood and Two Granite -
Pickaxe Recipe:
Five Wood
Similar to other Sandbox games, such as Terraria or Minecraft, you must equip your character with tools that make it easier to collect resources throughout the open world. To craft a starter set of tools, head to the crafting bench with a large assortment of wood and sticks.
The three tools you should always have on you are an axe, a pickaxe, and a shovel; these items allow you to efficiently collect a larger assortment of materials. Furthermore, pickaxes and axes are also useful when you make a building mistake, since they can quickly remove any misplaced foundations or furniture.
3 Shortsword
-
Shortsword Recipe:
Five Wooden Rods
By using five wooden sticks, you can craft your first Shortsword at the Crafting Bench. As the world of Lego Fortnite shifts to nighttime, many skeletons will spawn throughout the fields that will seek you out and try to harm you.

7 Hardest Enemies In Lego Fortnite
From the Snow Wolves to the Desert Cave Skeletons, here are the hardest enemies in Lego Fortnite!
To defeat these creatures, the Shortsword is your best early-game option because the recipe is relatively cheap. Also, since hostile mobs drop items when they die, having the tools necessary to quickly farm these drops is equally as important as having a basic axe or pickaxe.
2 Beds
If you are worried about getting killed while exploring the world at night, then you will want to craft a bed. By sleeping in a bed you have crafted, you will designate the area as your spawn point whenever you are defeated in combat.
Unfortunately, unlike other sandbox games such as Minecraft, you can not use the bed to sleep through the night and immediately reach the next day.
1 Grill
While pumpkins are a fantastic early-game food to satisfy your health and hunger needs, you will need something with a bit more substance as you upgrade your health bar. By crafting the Oven, you can cook some of the basic food you collect throughout the world into better snacks.
For example, turning corn into corn-on-the-cob or cooking meat in the oven will create food that heals you for much more. Furthermore, cooked items typically offer buffs, such as extra health from Grilled Meat or increased stamina regeneration.
